Meet the author

Born to Filipino and Indian parents in Manila, the Philippines, Deepa Paul currently resides in Amsterdam.

Her journalistic writing has appeared in Seventeen Magazine Philippines, The Philippine StarPhilippine Daily Inquirer, and Singapore Women’s Weekly, while her personal essays have been published in CheexGal-Dem, the Sky Island Journal, Expanded Field and Rappler. She is among the inaugural cohort of Craft Year, a writing mentorship program run by Dr. Megan Pillow, editor of Roxane Gay’s The Audacity

She has worked as a copywriter for GMA-7, the Philippines’ largest TV network, and for global entertainment brands such as NBC Universal, The Disney Channel, HBO and Netflix.

She has read her work at Schmutz Cinema and Body Electric Presents, venues for arthouse erotic film and live performances in Amsterdam. She has been a panelist at Come Alive, a large-scale exhibition on the power of pleasure; speaker at the 10th anniversary of De Meerminners, the Netherlands’ longest-running polyamory community; and speaker at the Amsterdam edition of Creative Mornings, a series of breakfast talks for creatives held in 215 cities around the world.
